Payment Policy
My payment policy is simple: there are no refunds, all sales are final. This helps me protect the integrity of our work together and continue to make opportunities available for all.
If you have questions about a service, class, event, or other offerings, please contact me first so you can feel confident and excited about your purchase!
Privacy Policy
With thanks to Michael Trotta at SagefireInstitute – a super excellent coach and supreme mischief-maker for allowing me permission to use his Privacy Policy as inspiration.
If you’re here, I’m impressed! Not many people take the time and effort to actually read one of these things.
But, since you are here, I know we have something in common: we value privacy, transparency, and protecting yourself online. So, here goes…
GDPR
I have to have one of these dealios to explain how I comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), the DPA (Data Protection Act), and the PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).
Now, I’m just a regular mom who loves to do some yoga and talk about deep things with people. These things are not exactly at the top of my reading list, but I’ve done my research and enlisted the right help so that we’re compliant with all these so your data is safe!
The best bit about the GDPR is that all this has to be “concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible” so hold onto your hat, this is going to be the shortest, clearest and best freakin’ privacy policy you ever did see. Here we go…
Tl;dr (because I need to get back on my yoga mat): I’m a one-woman tiny little business and I don’t have the time or energy to do anything nefarious with your data. And honestly, I’m simply not interested in thinking up a malevolent plot to steal your identity. I collect and store the info I need to provide you with the service you buy from me. Maybe one day I’ll stalk you with Facebook ads…but that sounds like a lot of work that I don’t have time for. That’s really it!
Cookies
Do you even know what a cookie is or does? I don’t. But, I do use cookies because that’s kinda how the Internet works. If you don’t want my delicious home-baked chocolate chip scripts, then you’ll simply need to block cookies on your browser.
Stalky Visitor Tracking
Look, I’m following you, ok? I use Squarespace Analytics, primarily to stare at the real-time stats because they’re cool but also to see what stuff people are looking at so I can write more of the stuff you like. I also like to know where people are dropping into the site from, and if anyone links to me.
None of this stores any super personal data about you but probably it nabs your IP address, not that I’d know where to look for it or what to do with it. All I see is that a person or many people have interacted with the website in a particular way. You can mess with me by doing something totally unexpected on the website and skewing my stats. Or you could do something way more fun and useful with your time (like practicing yoga).
Data Storage
It’s all about the data, baby. A literal ton of petabytes whirring around the world and what? What’s it all for? Well, I store your data in a few different places and use it in a couple of different ways. You ready for this?
Here on this website! If you register with the site I will store your name and email address. If you buy stuff from me, I will store your name, email address, postal address, phone number if you give it to me, and purchase history. Your payment details ARE NOT held on the site. I go to the maximum effort to keep this data secure and only two people have access to it. Only one of them ever actually looks at it and that’s to solve any technical problems you might have.
Let me be honest: I do absolutely nothing unsurprising or radical with your info. I might use your purchase history to target you with ads for stuff you might like. For example, if you sign up for a connection call, I might reach out later to ask you if you want to go deeper down that rabbit hole with a course or program. If you’ve done one of our courses, we’ll occasionally ask you if you want to do another course.
Mailerlite
If you’ve signed up for anything or bought anything on my site – newsletter, free class, paid class, membership, anything – your name and email address also wangs their way over to Mailerlite, which is the system I use to manage newsletters and emails. They, too, are GDPR compliant. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time by hitting the unsubscribe button.
Your Payment Details
When you purchase anything through my site, you will pay through Square or Stripe. I don’t hold any payment-based details on my site. I have no bank or card details here. Nada.
Email Marketing Thingies & Newsletters
If you sign up for my newsletter, I’ll send you a newsletter whenever I have something worth sharing and I remember to share it. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button in every email. Your name and email address are stored securely in Mailerlite.
If you sign up for a course or program, I will send you emails about the course or program. The frequency of which depends on the course or program. You can unsubscribe but you’ll miss important stuff about the course or program (and that would be silly!).
Mailerlite automatically adds tracking things to links so if you click on a link, I know. If you open an email, I know. If you ignore me, I know. But here’s the thing: I have neither the time nor inclination to actually look at or do anything with these stats. And that’s ok. Because the most important thing about this is that you are getting the support from me that you want, if and when you want it.
On-Demand Library
The On-Demand Library is hosted by Arketa. Arketa keeps a record of names and email addresses of students who access the library. It is possible for me to access those names and email addresses. I do this occasionally to see which videos appeal to students and which ones don’t. That’s so I can make more of the videos you like. I am the only one who has access to that information and I seriously don’t have time to do anything with it other than get excited when someone tries a video. But if you’d like that information to be removed, please let me know and I’ll delete it — you just won’t be able to access the library anymore.
When you use the online library of classes you agree to the following terms: That you take full responsibility for your practices and your choices. You certify that you are in good physical condition to practice yoga and that you will listen to your body. You will discontinue use if you are uncomfortable (physically or emotionally) or do not understand the postures well enough to continue. You understand that there is not a yoga teacher in the room with you while you practice and there for you practice at your own risk. You release Sarah Fischer and Sarah Fischer, LLC from any liability related to your use of the on-demand library including but not limited to accident, injury, or death resulting from your practice of yoga with any of the videos or later practice of anything you learned in one of the videos. And including but not limited to any damage or injury related to your applying anything you learn in a coaching video to your life circumstances. You understand and agree that you are responsible for your own actions in every way. No refunds are given for the On-Demand Library — see payment policy above.
In addition you acknowledge and agree: Yoga is not a substitute for medical treatment or advice. Sarah Fischer is not a doctor or physical therapist, she teaches from her experience as a yoga teacher and yoga practitioner. If you believe you need a doctor or physical therapist please seek out those professionals. No claims are made about the effectiveness of the yoga classes.
In addition you acknowledge and agree: Sarah Fischer is not a therapist or lawyer. Coaching videos are offered for informational purposes only. Coaching is not advice-giving and does not substitute for legal, psychiatric or any other personal help. If you feel you need the support of such a professional please seek one out.
Your Right To Be Deleted
It’s cool, it’s cool. If you want to go undercover, just shoot me an email at sarah@sarahfischer.life and I’ll delete all the info we have on you from our systems while worrying obsessively about what I could have possibly done wrong.
Just so you know, though, you won’t be able to access my courses anymore. I’m not being a jerk, it’s because I need your email address so I know you’ve paid and that you’re allowed to access it.
Social Media
I use social media a lot, partly to promote my classes and coaching, sometimes to talk about my dog or to brag about the flowers blooming in my yard. Also to let you know when I’m at the beach.
You are not required to follow my social media accounts and I won’t ask myself to temper myself just to keep someone happy there. If I do something stupid there, I deserve to be called out on it. And if you do something stupid there, I can block you.
