Dream: The Second Phase of Change

This spring we’re exploring the change process through an ongoing series of posts.  This week I share what happens after the initial shock and meltdown . Now we’re into the second stage of change.

Something’s happening inside the cocoon.  In the “mess” of the meltdown a new being is coming into form.  Dreams of wings form into actual wings. They now dream of flight.

Hints and Inspirations

Your new life starts as a tiny hint.  A glimmer of excitement here.  A whiff of enthusiasm there (then diving into a cocoon of covers for another week or two).  Some inspiration flits in on the wind.

Change… is changing.  The meltdown is receding, it’s time to consider something else.

Possibility is approaching and it’s tentative at first.  Take it slow so as not to scare it off.  This cocoon is still a safe place, only it’s not holding you together so much anymore.  Now it’s simply a resting spot before you take your next flight.

Inside the cocoon, let yourself begin to float.. to drift… and to DREAM.

What could happen next? When the pain is finished… what then?

No decisions need to be made.

Planning is still too much.

Nothing needs be put into motion.

Only.  Hope and possibility arrive, slowly, quietly.

Dreamtime

Dreamtime.  Drifting.  Exploring.  Wandering.

This stage of change feels weightless in a good way.  Light where there was heaviness. Floating where there was sinking.  Even… enjoyment where there was only despair.

We may not trust this time.  We may want to return to the pain that, while deeply uncomfortable, at least was familiar.  Or we may try to rush.  Who has time to consider new ways anyway?  But do not rush or hide from this - the dream is what calls out to your new life.

Let yourself dream, dear.  Dream your new life to you.
